Appear Here Pop Up at the Bullring
I was invited by Appear Here to take part in their Up Market pop up in the Bullring, Birmingham. The Up Market has been created to celebrate the little guys, it's a rotating pop up designed to bring high end designers, makers and creators to some of the UK's best shopping destinations.
Taking part was super exciting - how often does a tiny one girl band get to sell her jewellery alongside some of the high-street's most luxurious stores?
The Up Market was in Birmingham for six weeks and I took part in the very first week. the weather was absolutely beautiful and we had sun streaming through the Bullring's glass ceilings (much to the sorrow of my tulips, they didn't stay looking quite as perky for very long)
Appear Here were really keen to give the Up Market a high-end feel so only accepted brands with products that fulfilled their strict criteria. Other stands included the Bluebird Tea co., Eldon Watches and Peace & Blessings stationary.
Taking part was a great way to meet other brands based in the Midlands and there was plenty for chatting - it turns out manning a stand for seven days is a long, long time!
I was a little bit nervous about taking part in the pop-up because I have an irrational fear of robbers but I found these perfect bell jars at a shop called Hema, they were really well priced and I now have a wardrobe that's overflowing with them!
It was a pretty fun experience, it felt fun to play shop keeper for a week, it definitely opened my eyes to how hard it could be to have a shop. I think I'd like on in the future but I realised that I would need some help, it would be impossible to be there for my customers when they needed me and have time to run all the other important aspects of the business.
Here's to having lots of employees one day!
