Our Back Story
I launched Rachel Whitehead Jewellery in 2016 when I was fortunate enough to be chosen by John Lewis to represent the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter in their Grand Central department store. Having John Lewis as my first ever stockist was an amazing opportunity and one I still pinch myself about now. I made the order of 100 pieces of jewellery from my tiny kitchen table and it felt like a dream to see my jewels being sold alongside some really big brands.
I grew up in a tiny village in the Highlands of Scotland then spent my teenage years on the Sussex coast near Brighton. I've always grown up by the sea and find the nothing more calming than an open expanse of blue sky and the lapping of the sea on the pebbles.
The Great British summertime is the most special time of year, the chance to enjoy the clear skies and the warm sun, and perhaps what makes it so special is because it can be so fleeting. Is there really anything better than the dance of butterflies, bumblebees laden with pollen, trees heaving with a wash of pink blossom flowers and the excitement of hearing the first ice cream van of the year?
All of my jewellery is inspired by the flora and fauna of the Great British summer time and is designed and made by me in my workshop in the Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham. I'm very proud to make a quality British jewellery and feel very lucky to be surrounded by so many talented tradespeople and suppliers who help me make my sparkly ideas a reality.
