Basking Bee Coin Earrings
Description
As a lover of bees the Bee Coin Earrings were made as a wearable reminder than no challenge is insurmountable. Bumblebees represent hard work and community.
Featuring two basking bumblebees in positive relief the earrings catch the light beautifully as they are worn. Attaching to the ear with a simple hook fastening the bees appear to dance with each movement.
All of our jewellery is lovingly designed and handmade in Rachel's Birmingham studio with help from casters and stone setters in the historic Birmingham Jewellery Quarter.

How is it made?
The Bee Coin earrings were designed to compliment the ever popular Bee coin Necklace first designed back in 2017.
I CAD modelled the first bee coin (this takes lots of hours and plenty of head scratching). Once happy with the design the coin was 3D printed in a plastic resin material which was moulded by casters in the Jewellery Quarter.
The mould allows for identical pieces to be cast through the lost was casting process.
Once cast in precious metal the bumblebee coins are de-sprued, cleaned up, polished and put together in my Jewellery Quarter workshop.
Solid gold pieces are hallmarked at the Birmingham Assay office.

I make all my jewellery from my small workshop close to Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter in the United Kingdom.
I’ve been lucky to learn so much from the incredible talent within the British jewellery trade and it’s important to me that my jewellery is made in the UK and does its own tiny bit to support the trade.
I'm surrounded by so many skilled casting companies, goldsmiths, stone setters and hand engravers in Birmingham and I think it's vital that we support them and keep their disciplines alive and available for generations of designers to come.
When you buy a piece of Rachel Whitehead Jewellery, you're helping keep the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter the vibrant and vital centre of manufacture that it has been and should remain for years to come.
